Types of Screens

Phifer 18/14 mesh- Standard

Made in the USA. Phifer's 18/14 mesh screen is the standard screen used by most homeowners. On average, you can expect this screen to last between 12 and 15 years. Phifer screens are hurricane rated and engineered to withstand the Florida sun, while keeping out unwanted insects.

Phifer 20/20 mesh- No-See-Um

The 20/20 screen has a tighter mesh, keeping out even the smallest of knats or flies. You can expect this screen to last between 12 and 15 years.

Super Screen

Superscreen is twice as strong as the standard 18/14 mesh and can be expected to last 20 years. This screen is perfect for golf course homes, as it will deflect golf balls. It also has UV protection, blocking out 30% of the sun’s rays. This is a good option for the homeowner who plans to be in their home long-term.

Solar Screen

SPF50-90 sun-blocking screen, specifically used for blocking out the sun and creating shade to the area. Solar screen is offered in several different colors including black, white, and tan.

China Screen

Many screen companies use Artisan Wire screen, this screen comes from China and is not made to last more than a couple of years. These types of screens are not hurricane rated, nor are they inspected for quality assurance, therefore the mesh size may vary from square to square, allowing bugs to get through.

How Do you know your installer is using Phifer screens?

Look for the packaging materials on the screen-roll. Companies that are using the cheaper branded screen will often remove the wrapper prior to arriving on the job. The Screen King ONLY uses Phifer materials and will always be able to show the consumer he/she is getting the product they are promised.
